People nowadays seem to be obsessed with the idea of depression. Well, I've got a couple of suggestions:
First, GET OVER IT. As my soon to be former boss says, "The sun is shining and I don't have cancer." To which I would add: "And I don't live in Iraq or some other dangerous place."
Second, find something you like to do and DO it. You'd be surprised what "singing the blues" can do to the blues. (Or painting a picture or pulling weeds or even taking a backlog and handling the hell out of it.)
Third, stop trying to treat the SYMPTOMS (the blues) and take a look for the source. First of all, this propensity for handling everything by taking a pill is distressing. Seritonin notwithstanding, the mind and body describe only part of the total solution. There's also YOU, a spiritual being. And you have something to say about it.
There are answers, if you just drop your protective "nothing can be done about it so why even bother" attitude.
Of course, none of this is addressed to YOU, dear reader, because I know you wouldn't accept the passive attitude I describe above. But if this describes you or someone you know even one tiny bit, I urge you to investigate. The world could use our help!
